Muso Day and Jam Session

Ending the school year with a bang.

What better way to end the school year than to blast some wicked tunes with some mates? Ararat College welcomed 10 students on Saturday to a Muso Day and Jam Session in the music room supported by FReeZA and Engage!.

It was their opportunity to explore, experiment, bash out some sick sounds. Pushing their creative boundaries, young people had a chance to play drums, bongos, maracas, guitars, pianos and any instrument they brought in or were provided by the school. They could even bless their peers with the sound of their very own voices by singing into the microphones.

It never fails to amaze me how uniting music can be. The young people and CGLLEN Youth Project Officers Brendan and Sarah all performed and jammed together unrehearsed but still managed to smash out a few songs that they all knew.

The highlight of Muso Day involved everyone getting on stage and singing, drumming, and other instrumenting to the legendary Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. Spread across five types of percussion, three microphones, and a surprise air guitar performance by CGLLEN’s very own Brendan, the students were left to wonder: is this the real life, or is this just fantasy? Such is the power of music.
