Celebrating National Skills Week by thanking employers.
National Skills Week (August 28 – September 3) is about informing students and the wider public of the diversity and career pathways through the Vocational Education and Training sector (VET). VET courses give students hands-on practical skills that can be applied in professional workplaces, as well as enabling students to network with employers.
Central Grampians LLEN’s Program Manager and SWL Manager Melissa is excited to present a Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) employer with certificate of appreciation during National Skills Week.
Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) helps VET or VCAL students find a local workplacement in an area relevant to their studies. This enables them to gain hands-on experience in an industry of interest to their studies and is a valuable asset for future employability.
Carey Covers, an employer in Stawell, have been fantastic supporters of the SWL program. They have welcomed an award-winning SWL participant to do a placement with them. This SWL placement then turned into a School Based Apprenticeship and Training. The hard-working student was then offered apprenticeship at Carey Covers.
Central Grampians LLEN values employers that support young people to develop their skills and broaden their employment pathways. Thank you Peter and Geraldine from Carey Covers for supporting and offering an apprenticeship to a hard-working young person.
