Last Friday, 29 July, Central Grampians LLEN hosted its first photography workshop.
In a world full of smartphones, Snapchat and Instagram, our world is inundated with photos on a daily basis. But how do you actually take a good photo of the Greek yoghurt with berries and muesli you had for breakfast? Or what about when your bestie hands you her phone and asks you to take a photo of her on One Tree Hill?
Cue Peter Pickering, professional photographer. He is a local photographer who works with the Ararat Advertiser and sees his photos in print every week. He spoke to the participants about how to produce high quality images using simple tricks, like standing closer to a subject, rather than zooming in with your camera.
This week, Central Grampians LLEN will host another workshop with another professional photographer to help young people showcase their talents through photography. Want harness those photo skills without a filter? Get in touch with Central Grampians LLEN to register for the event.
The workshops are hosted in the lead up to Central Grampians LLEN’s FReeZA photography exhibit and competition, which will showcase the talents of young people from Ararat. More information on the competition to follow. The photography workshops and competition are open to anyone aged 12-25 years.
The next workshop will take place on Friday August 4, 2017
at the Central Grampians LLEN offices at 3:30 – 5:00 pm.
