BLINK - A mentoring program between business and schools.

Published Dec 10, 2007

BLINK opens students’ eyes to local career pathways.

A mentoring program linking Business and school has proven to be quite informative for Year 10 Career students at Ararat Community College.
Students working in pairs visited various businesses including Baker’s delight, Ararat Police station, Bendigo Bank, McGregor House, Grampians Ford, Ararat Retirement Village to name a few. Prepared with a series of questions, the students aimed to get a clear idea of the duties performed at the work place, training and career pathways involved. They were also able to gauge job satisfaction.
The students then collated their information, which they presented to the class. The aim of the exercise is to give students an opportunity to explore the breadth of work opportunities in their local region. It also gives business owners an opportunity to sell the benefits of working in their business while living locally.
