Ararat Community College Year 12 student Nathan Cann was awarded with the School Based New Apprenticeship (SBNA) Award at a gala dinner on Friday 7th October. This was the first award presented to a School Based New Apprentice as part of the Powercor Grampians Pyrenees Business Achievement Awards.

More than 280 people representing businesses and community organisations throughout the Northern Grampians shire, Ararat Rural City and the Pyrenees shire attended the dinner at the Stawell Town Hall.

The SBNA award recognised Nathan’s outstanding contribution to his SBNA in Automotive at KHS in Ararat and the commitment and dedication Nathan shows in his work. Congratulations to Nathan on this significant achievement.

Another significant highlight for the SBNA program occurred at the Powercor Grampians Pyrenees Business Awards ceremony when former SBNA Jason Cass was awarded Apprentice of the Year for his work with Waacks Bakery. Jason commenced his training as an SBNA and rolled over into a full time apprenticeship in 2004. Congratulations to Jason and the team at Waacks.
