Lake Bolac student Missy Park talks about her experiences on work placement with CGLLEN during 2005.
Working through LLEN at Lake Bolac Information and Business Centre gave me great work experience for future prospects
Throughout 2005, CGLLEN and LenZone had the pleasure in hosting Work Placement students to assist in the coordination of the FReeZA music and cultural events program. Missy Park, a Year 12 student from Lake Bolac College was one of these placement students. Whilst working for CGLLEN, Missy was based at the Lake Bolac Information and Business Centre, allowing her to keep in close contact with her community. We asked Missy to tell us about her experiences in coordinating FReeZA in Lake Bolac:
“Working through LLEN at Lake Bolac Information and Business Centre gave me great work experience for future prospects. I learnt, even though I was aware there was a lot to planning an event, that there is always more than expected.
Time management is a skill needed to complete almost every task. I developed my communication skills and learnt it is the most important component to a workplace and that is vital to get all things completed. It also ensures all involved are aware of what tasks they are to complete, in order for things to run smoothly.
I learnt sometimes, I can't do everything myself and to let others help, but to make sure these people are reliable.
Organisation is a big part of my life and I realised no matter how hard I urge them, some people will never posses this quality.
The main thing I discovered is that I really enjoy this type of work and event management is definitely a career I would like to pursue”
Since completing her placement, Missy has been successful in obtaining a place in Event Management at William Angliss Institute of TAFE. We thank Missy for her efforts during the year, congratulate her on a job very well done and wish her all the best in the future.A full wrap up of the very successful Lake Bolac Gig organised by Missy is available in the FReeZA section of the CGLLEN website.
