Madison experiences the breadth of Youth Services at LenZone!

Published Jul 16, 2007

My name is Madison Jacobson and I am doing year 10 at Oakleigh Secondary College in Melbourne.
For work experience we were encouraged to work in the CBD (central business district), but I had heard about LenZone! in Ararat and decided to try something new.

LenZone! has been a great experience, it’s loads of fun but it still gives you the general idea of having to get up and go to work in the morning (freezing cold). Although I am not sitting at a desk all day like some of my class mates, I still have projects to complete.

This week I have been able to be involved in the following:
1.Working on a power point looking at body image
2.Going to the young mums group and playing with the little kids
3.Being interviewed for the Podcasting in Stawell
4.Designing and making posters advertising The Podcast Challenge

Madison experiences the breadth of Youth Services at LenZone!-Body

LenZone! is a Youth Resource Centre and has two locations. There is one in Ararat and the other in Stawell. The parent office is the Central Grampians Local Learning and Employment Network which is also situated in Stawell.

It is a fantastic place to work, full of fun and friendly people. I think the idea of LenZone! is great and hopefully they will grow and be located all around Victoria.

I think the best things about LenZone! are that you are not doing the same thing everyday. You go to different places and see different people. It’s great how the adults treat the children with respect, you don’t see a lot of that anymore. The staff at LenZone! really love what they do and their attitude towards the kids and other staff is fantastic.

I think I could work at LenZone! as a job, it’s out of the city, so there is no running around like crazy. The community seems closer and everybody knows everybody else; it has a sense of closeness.

Thanks LenZone! for giving me the opportunity to experience such a great organisation, it’s a week I will never forget!
