My Work Placement Year at LenZone!

Work Placement Student Tracy Phillips talks about her experiences during her year at LenZone!

My name is Tracy Phillips and for the past year I have been a year 12 student at Marian College doing VCAL. As part of this course I was required to do a VET subject and a work placement that was in the field that I wanted to work in. With the help from my teacher I got an interview at LenZone! I had to take in a resume and an application letter and I was chosen to do the placement at LenZone!

Doing my work placement a LenZone! was really good and it was lots of fun. The people there are really nice and friendly. When I was there I got really involved with the FReeZA group so most of my time was spent ringing places and organising the FreeZA gigs. When I wasn’t doing that I was working with Belinda typing up minutes from meetings and things like that. Throughout the whole time I was there I learnt how to use email better, send a fax and I developed better communication skills.

Working at LenZone! was really good for me as a person because I found out that it is more than just a place you go to use the computers. They have more going on than just that. Some of the things they do for the youth are the FreeZA music events, the young mum’s group, the first steps program, T4T (technology for teenagers) and many other things. At the moment they are starting to organise a radio station for the youth of Ararat and the surrounding areas. But I think the best thing that came out of my work placement at LenZone! was that at the end of it all I got a job working some extra hours at LenZone!.
