Intercooler headline FReeZA gig

Published Aug 29, 2005

Brisbane rockers Intercooler and Melbourne band The Suits brought their Bird in the Hand Tour to Stawell on Sunday playing at The Blue Room to a crowd of around 80 local young people for Stawell’s second FReeZA gig.

Kicking off the night were local band Less Than Perfection who attracted a large crowd of loyal supporters. Once again these guys put on a great show that was full of energy and rocked out.

Up next were The Suits who have just begun to break through with their tracks Good Girls and Last Plane featuring on Triple J and Rage. The Suits joined Intercooler on The Bird in the Hand Tour with the hope of establishing a regional fan base and after playing some catchy pop rock songs, handing out freebies for the best dancers and their lead singer diving off the stage I think they had definitely found some new supporters in the crowd.

Wrapping up the night were the boys from Brisbane who have just come off their third US tour where they have been hugely successful with two of their rock pop tunes being heard by 3.6 million listeners. Being their first gig in front of an under age crowd the guys weren’t sure of how it would all go but once they started to play you couldn’t help but want to get out on the dance floor (supervisors included!)

By the end of the night a good time was had by all who attended and the boys from Intercooler and The Suits were happy to have had their first performances to an under age crowd go so well.

FReeZA is an initiative of the Victorian Government which provides funding for LenZone! to hold drug and alcohol free entertainment and events for young people. A team of five LenZone! work-placement students work with FReeZA Committees in Ararat, Stawell and Lake Bolac to stage the events.
