Central Grampians LLEN (CGLLEN) is excited to announce it has been the recipient of $210,000  for the Ararat and Stawell Engage! Programs for 2018 – 2020. Over the course of three years, Central Grampians LLEN’s Ararat Engage! program has received $120,000, and the Stawell program has received $90,000.

The Engage! program helps connect young people to their community through activities that aid to recognise their personal strengths and supports in their communities. The program also aims to increase the skills and knowledge of young people, which may aid them along their pathways to education, employment or further training. In addition to this, Engage! aims to improve young people’s health, wellbeing and social interaction with their peers.

Through Engage!, CGLLEN work with schools, local government, youth service providers and community groups to run youth events and activities that put young people at the centre.

Some examples of Engage! in action include: CGLLEN Skate Park Day (winner of Northern Grampians Community Event of Year Award), Funky Fridays, Sing It Out Grampians tour, Muso Day, school holiday programs and more.

These events involve hosting workshops on youth issues, self-esteem, youth participation and leadership; working with young people to plan and run events that celebrate youth culture; promoting volunteering through expos and hands-on activities, and running workshops to develop new skills.

Central Grampians LLEN is looking forward to working with and supporting young people in the next few years, thanks to the Engage! Funding. The Youth Engage! Stawell and the Youth Engage! Ararat programs are funded by the Department of Health and Human Services.
